RESTAURANT BAR "EL CONVENTO"

With its international, regional, and Spanish menu, it delights its diners with meticulous attention to the flavor of each dish and drink. It has a total capacity for 60 people, and at night the effect of the lanterns illuminating it creates a romantic and enchanting atmosphere. Our bar offers a diverse selection of national and imported liquors, with seating for 30 in our beautiful garden. Open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Looking at Yucatecan cuisine, we find that it has its roots in Spain, and because of this, the cuisine is very similar to that of some Spanish regions. However, by applying the Mayan spirit to each dish, with its ingredients, tastes, and trends, this gastronomic culture emerges as a product of our cultural blending. This culinary fusion occurred primarily in convents, such as "La Misión de Fray Diego" in New Spain.

In the 10th century, the Arabs brought saffron and rice to Spain. Five centuries later, we in the Americas incorporated them into our cooking. Paella is the clearest example of this cultural fusion, resulting in dishes that combine ingredients and traditions from Spain, the Americas, and the East.


Now, New Spain is the “Other Spain,” and it is up to you to be the judge and become part of it by visiting us and discovering the magic of colors, smells and flavors that come together when eating in our land.

You no longer need to go all the way to Motul for this dish. Here at "El Convento," we prepare it DELICIOUSLY. And get ready, because we've INNOVATED this dish with unexpected flavors, exclusive to "El Convento" restaurant-bar.

You can start with classic Huevos Motuleños to see for yourself why they're the best in all of Mérida. Then you can order Huevos Motuleños Fray Luis style or Fray Jorge style. We recommend Fray José if you're looking for a truly unique flavor, and if you have a discerning and sophisticated palate, Fray Enrique will undoubtedly win you over.
